Ultimate Zombie Feast, Volume 1 (2012)

The cover states they are award winning films, but it doesn't tell us what kind of awards they won.  The short films are generally well done, but not all look professional. Overall I liked volume two better, but it was worth a look.

Zombeer (2008) Netherlands
A drunken brewery worker gets put on the night shift so he doesn't ruin the brewery's tours. He falls into a vat, somehow becomes a zombie, and the zombie plague begins.

Cigarettes and Zombies (2009) Spain
There is an unexplained outbreak of zombies in a mall.  I'm all for mall zombies so I enjoyed this one, although the ending was not so great.

Plague (2008) UK
A lone gun dealer tries to survive a zombie apocalypse and get out of the city that's being overrun by zombies.

Bitten (2008) UK
This follows the last days of a woman who has been bitten and is turning into a zombie. I didn't care for this one.

Arise (2010) US
A warehouse worker is sent to get dinner for everyone on the night shift, but when he returns the other workers have been bitten by zombies. He tries to save his girlfriend and her daughter who are both at the warehouse.  What's up with the sound on this? They must have recorded it with an on camera mic. Sometimes you can't hear the dialogue, or you can only hear one guy in the scene. Also of note - the guy with the really bad wig and the most atrocious acting.

Not Even Death (2009) US
A guy loves his zombie wife way too much and you know how this is going to end. Meh.

Fear of the Living Dead (2009) US
It's been two weeks since the zombie infection. A lone woman armed with an ax goes into houses to procure food and provisions. In one house she runs into a man who says they should team up. But can he be trusted, and why does his cell phone work?  She's been bitten numerous times but seems to be immune as she's not infected. You can see the ending on this one coming a mile away.

Kidz (2010) US
When their parents are killed by zombies, three kids team up to kill zombies by using the shooting skills they learned playing video games.

Book of Zombie (2010) US
When some slightly ill looking Mormons knock on the door, David tells them a bad joke and goes back inside. But when the doorbell rings again, he finds the Mormon on his porch have changed into zombies.  David and his wife Jenny run to a local convenience store where they run into Charlie, who suffers from narcolepsy, and Darwin, a teenaged kid who likes to get high and set off explosives. Later they meet up with a super annoying bartender who makes wise cracks that aren't funny.

The film takes a different tact with how to kill the zombies since they're Mormons.  There isn't an explanation for why the Mormons turned into zombies, but the idea is funny.  The biggest problem with the film overall is that the humor in the film isn't really funny. It might have been funnier with other  actors with different deliveries. This is the longest film on the disc clocking in at slightly over an hour.  The last line was the best line in the film.
