The Invitation (2022)

Feeling lonely after her mother dies, Evie takes a DNA test and discovers she has relatives in England.  Her cousin Oliver contacts her and wants to meet when he’s in New York. When they hit it off,  Oliver invites her to a family wedding. Evie can’t afford it, but he says he’ll pay for the trip with his frequent flyer miles and she accepts.

The home where she’s staying is a massive mansion with many servants, and additional hires due to the upcoming nuptials.  When Evie meets the host, she finds him attractive. But things seem weird.  There is a room she’s never to go in and some of the maids seem to be missing.

If you’re going to watch one movie called the Invitation, you’d be wise to skip this one.  It’s the type of movie you have on in the background as you pick up your house.  There are spots where you’d stop what you’re doing and watch for a bit, but most of the time you’d be folding your laundry.
