The Body Tree (2017)

A year after Kara’s murder, her friends go to Siberia to meet with her family.  They thought they were meeting her parents, but hen they get there, it’s only her brother and his friend.  Her brother is going to perform a ceremony to put her spirit at rest because her violent death trapped her between worlds.  The ritual opens a gate between the worlds so the energy can flow.

During the ceremony something goes wrong.  Everyone is supposed to be Kara’s friend. But if someone didn’t like her or is her murderer, then a demon can come through the gate and possess anyone except the murderer. So the question is, which one of them murdered Kara?

Brandon was already convicted of the murder and is in jail. But Alice has always maintained that Brandon was innocent. The group starts eyeing each other suspiciously.  Could it be Kara’s ex who wouldn’t leave her alone? Could it be the other guy who’s in love with Kara? Could it be the creepy middle aged professor who hangs out with kids half his age?  What is up with this guy?  There’s red flags all over the place. What sort of 50 year old parties with college kids, other than a creeper?

This is basically a bunch of people stuck in an isolated location trying to determine who is the killer, with some flash backs thrown in to provide a backstory.  It’s okay, but nothing special.

Dialogue from a creepy middle aged professor :

Kara was my student. She was my best student and my friend, just like the rest of you.
