Black Water Vampire (2014)

In the last forty years, four women have disappeared in the woods on December 21. Later they are found dead with bite marks on their neck.  Raymond Banks was convicted of their murders but Danielle believes he’s innocent. She says it’s not fair he was questioned for sixteen hours without a lawyer and the evidence is circumstantial.

She wants to do a documentary about his case and says, ‘he’s going to be sentenced to death in less than three months.” Did she mean put to death?  Because he’s already been convicted.

She’s already interviewed Banks but asked leading questions in an attempt to get him to say he was framed. Instead he talks about how the FBI is trying to kill him and he knows what they do in the woods.

Danielle and her crew are heading into the woods on a three day hike to locate the exact spot where the last body was found.  If she believes Banks is innocent, then it’s a huge oversight not to consider the killer is still out there.  The questions I have, which Danielle seems to have overlooked are:

  1. Has anyone been killed since Banks was arrested?
  2. If there is a death every ten years for forty years, is this the fiftieth year?
  3. Are they going to be in the woods on December 21st, the same day the victims disappeared?

When people in town hear about their trip, they advise them not to go into the woods because there are vampires in the trees. It is not surprising this does not dissuade them from their trip.

The first night in the woods, a symbol is painted on their tent. They also find one on a nearby tree.  Sound guy Rob wants to go home, but they convince him to continue.  He marks their trail so they can find their way back, which leads to the discovery they’ve been walking in circles. When they finally find the spot where the body was, one of their group has disappeared and there are no footprints in the snow heading away. Danielle is more concerned with her documentary than her friends well being.

This is another movie where people run around at night trying to hide, all while having a large light on their camera. Thus betraying where they are to the very thing they’re trying to hide from.

Ridiculous dialogue

You don’t send a man to death on circumstantial evidence.

Yeah I get it. I’m sorry. Hey, if it wasn’t for your stupid mark, we wouldn’t have even known that we were running in circles. [Danielle inexplicably mad at Rob even though she got them lost]

Are you pissed because you’re going to have a ruined documentary? Or are you pissed because your friend is gone?
