After another night seeing a light in the house, Colton orders security cameras and points the towards the neighbors. The next day he goes over to snoop around and runs into teenage Heather in the backyard. She says she and her adoptive father just moved in.
The neighbors don’t seem to believe in curtains and Colton sees her father creeping outside her bedroom door. No one shall ask why Colton doesn't realize his peeping is creepier than her dad. Dad also seems to be doing some sort of ritual in the house, which he does right in the upstairs window.
When Colton does some online research, he discovers the entire neighborhood burned down except that house. Also there was a missing little girl in the neighborhood, as well as rumored devil worship and abuse at the house.
Colton asks Heather to a party but she tells him her father won’t let her leave the house. The gears in his brain start grinding and he decides she’s in danger. He gets a night vision camera which he uses to sneak into the house and try to help her escape. Although he also has a flashlight which betrays exactly where he is while he’s moving through the house.
At one point he says “She’s going to die if I don’t save her.” How has he come to this conclusion? He’s obsessed with getting her out of the house, but really doesn't know that much about her.
And why does the father do his ritual standing in the upstairs window for anyone passing by to see?Granted they won’t know exactly what he’s doing, but he is wearying a hooded robe and that’s never a good thing in a ritual.
This movie has some similarity to Fright Night, with the teenage neighbor who knows something is wrong in the house next door but the police won’t believe him. So he recruits his friend help. But it’s not as good as Fright Night so you’re better off watching that movie.
