Shark Bait (2022)

Five drunk college kids steal two jet skis and head out into the ocean to joy ride.  They have no life jackets and they’re idiots. It’s the end of their vacation so if something goes wrong, people may not know they’re missing.

After a game of chicken results in one of the jet skis running over the other and launching into the air,  one person is seriously injured. Also we discover that one of the women can’t swim which makes her foray into the ocean without a life jacket all the more ridiculous.  Neither jet skis nor cell phones work so they hope to see a boat. And then the shark appears.

These kids don’t make good decisions and bring up stuff at the worst possible moments.  When it comes up that one guy cheated on his girlfriend with her best friend, who is also on the trip, the boyfriend victim blames by saying it’s her fault for being a doormat.  When there is a boat in sight about 60 yards away, they want to swim there to get help. But it’s not clear if there is any way to get aboard. Is there a ladder down? One guy swims off to try to get to shore, but there are sharks around. 

Bad decisions are made by all and some of the characters aren’t very likeable. There is a sporadic shark that shows up but it’s mostly unlikable people getting more unlikable by the moment.

Three people on a jet ski is fine, especially when one cant swim.

They managed to hit the one other thing in the ocean.
