Shopping Tour (2012)

Teenage Stas is going on a shopping trip to Finland with his mother.  For twenty five minutes they ride on a bus and argue. Stas is pretty immature but Mom isn’t much better since she gives him the silent treatment.

Once they get through the border, the tour guide says there is a new store willing to open just for them to do some shopping.  They’re asked to park far away to avoid attention, which makes no sense since their bus is the only thing in the parking lot.

Stas notices that once everyone is inside and shopping a worker locks the front door. When he finds blood near the back of the store, he follows it into the stock room and finds a dead man.  He and his Mom get the tour guide, but when they get back the body is gone. Since Stas films everything you’d think he’s show her his footage, but he just let’s her believe he’s a liar.

Shortly after this the workers attack the shoppers. Stas and his mother turn out to not be the brightest bulbs.  They lock themselves in a back room with no other way out. When workers bang on the door, Mom wonders if they know they’re in there. Since the lock is on the inside and you’re shouting to each other, yes they do.  At one point Stas calls a friend, but never says they need help.  It’s like every step of the way, they should be careful, but they just go wide eyed and stupid.

The issue is they’ve arrived on the one day of the year that the Fins become cannibals. Even when they figure this out, the sight of a small girl doesn’t make them nervous. Oh look it’s just a little girl wandering alone. Let me help you little girl.  Anyone with a brain stem would ask, is she Finnish? Will she bite me? Why is she looking at me that way?

Mom plans to use an unplugged drill as a weapon
